Mon., Nov. 6, 2017:   Pros and troupe opened with guest dancers (former winners) dancing.

  1. Terrell + Cheryl: Charleston.  Judges: 9.  Me: 9.   Cute, peppy, proper, fun, fab footwork and timing, well done, really enjoyable.  He’s due for:  Waltz, Arg. Jazz, Contemp.; Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble.
  2. Drew Scott + Emma: Waltz. Judges: 7,7,8.  Me: 8.5.  Beautiful, smooth, fluid and well in hold most of the time, elegant, fab choreo. Very enjoyable.  I still like him a lot.  He’s due for:  Tango, Jazz, Contemporary; Cha-Cha, Samba, Salsa, Rumba.
  3. Victoria + Val: Arg. Tango.   Judges: 8.  Me: 8.5.  Graceful and smooth and flowing with good lines and hold, yet also mandatorily sharp and fairly well intense; pretty. Not as sexy/intense as it should have been, though, from Victoria; not to the level of what Val danced with Rumer Willis.  She’s an adorable and sweet girl with a heartfelt story and surprising skills, as someone who can’t feel her legs; but I’m tired of the powers-that-be coddling her, which equates to at least subliminally encouraging America to vote for her (we’re intelligent and can figure out on our own whom to vote for).  I’ve met Val and he’s very nice, but they do give him/Victoria more interview time than they give most others.  She’s due for:  Waltz, Jive, Jazz, Contemporary; Samba, Salsa, Rumba.
  4. Lindsey + Mark: Samba. Judges 9,8,9.  Me 9. She has been healing from a  blunt rib  injury and possible separation, which she sustained in rehearsal last week.  Len and CAI saw what I saw: Very creative, a different samba that is so different from what she’s danced before that she looked a tad unsure in her footwork even though she actually knew exactly what she was doing and was having fun; could/should have had more hip action, though.
She’s due for:  Waltz, Tango, Jazz, Charleston, Contemporary; Salsa, Rumba.
  1. Frankie + Whitney: Vien. WaltzJudges: 9,8,9. Me: 9They’re adorable! The dance was proper with continuously graceful and flowing movement and good footwork.  I didn’t want it to stop—so enjoyable and soothing to watch.  He’s due for:  Waltz, Jive, Charleston, Cha-Cha, Salsa, Rumba.
  1. Jordan + Lindsay: Quickstep.  Judges: 10. Me: 10.  So fast, fun, fabulous, cute, proper, catchy, creative, and artistic! Outstanding choreo again, Lindsay! Loved it! MY Dancing With The Stars DANCE OF THE NIGHT in this round!  He’s due for:  Waltz, Arg. Tango, Jive, Jazz; Cha-Cha, Samba, Salsa.

SECOND DANCE:  Trio dance

  1. Terrell + Cheryl + Kelly Monaco: Rumba.  Judges: 8.  Me 8.5.    I would have preferred more and more-recognizable Rumba content. He did well while handling the two women, and they all had fun. He has come so far as a dancer!       He’s due for:  Waltz, Arg. Jazz, Contemp.; Samba, Paso Doble.
  2. Drew Scott + Emma + Rashad Jennings: Cha-Cha.  Judges: 9,8,8.  Me: 9.       So cute, so fun, so glitzy, so funky and on target most of the time. Great job by Emma to get so much done and done so well! Rashad made it all the better; loved seeing him dance again! It was so cool! Loved it!  He’s due for:  Tango, Jazz, Contemporary; Samba, Salsa, Rumba.
  3. Victoria + Val + Laurie Hernandez: Jive.  Judges: 8.  Me: 8.5.  Peppy, good jive movements, fun; needed more precision and sharpness in the legs, though. She’s due for:  Waltz, Arg. Tango, Jive, Jazz, Contemporary; Samba, Salsa, Rumba. Why did they have to bring back Laurie to ‘help’? A gymnast who wasn’t as good as the previous gymnastic winners and who was so coddled by the producers and certain judges that much of America felt compelled to vote for her.  So irritating, and maybe she was the only one available this time. Nice girl, but the ad nauseum gymnast thing in general, etc., which I’ve complained about many times, is still nauseating.  I much rather would have preferred to see Rumer Willis, whose performances with Val were better, magnetic, and more memorable. She’s due for:  Waltz, Jazz, Contemporary; Samba, Salsa, Rumba.
  4. Lindsey + Mark + Kristi Yamaguchi: Jazz.  Judges 10,9,9.  Me 10.  Like a mini Hollywood musical. Stellar, diamond-quality choreography performed perfectly. WOW! Loved it! Len & Bruno majorly cheated them out of the perfect 10’s that they deserved (shame on them!). MY #2 Dancing With The Stars DANCE OF THE NIGHT!
She’s due for:  Waltz, Tango, Charleston, Contemporary; Salsa, Rumba.
  5. Frankie + Whitney + Alfonso Riberio: Jive.  Judges: 9. Me: 9.  I’d figured that the funny Alfonso would be a delightful addition—and he was!  Very energetic, balanced, timed, synched/merged, impressive, and enjoyable.  Adorable!  He’s due for:  Waltz, Charleston, Cha-Cha, Salsa, Rumba.
  1. Jordan + Lindsay + Corbin Bleu: Salsa.   Judges: 10. Me: 10.  WOW! Outstanding choreo yet again, Lindsay! Loved it! Perfect in everything that was required and much more. Such a fun and fabulous, athletic, creative flow! MY #1 Dancing With The Stars DANCE OF THE ENTIRE NIGHT!  He’s due for:  Waltz, Arg. Tango, Jive, Jazz; Cha-Cha, Samba.

WHO WAS IN JEOPARDY?  Frankie and Terrell.

 NEXT WEEK:  Semifinals!

OTHER NEWS:  Did you know that Derek Hough can sing and sing well? His single, “Hold On,” just hit the waves and the shelves. He was on “Live with Kelly and Ryan” last week, but I missed it (darn!). The clip that I saw from the video was too cool! Check it out.
